Membership

General public access

Anyone from the general public is welcome to visit the Dalton McCaughey Library, use its facilities and access its print collections, and electronic resources while on-site and during its open hours. The library’s Code of Conduct must be followed by all visitors, members, volunteers and staff.

Private membership

Private membership is available at the following rates (inclusive of GST):

  • $60 for 6 months
  • $120 for 12 month

Due to licensing restrictions, private membership is not available for purchase while holding an active University of Divinity account. Private membership includes the following privileges and responsibilities:

  • Up to 40 books can be borrowed at the same time
  • A 28 day initial loan on all eligible items
  • 2 loan renewals on eligible items, unless specially reserved (for a class) or placed on hold by another library member.

Church & Residential College membership

Membership of the Dalton McCaughey Library is free if you are currently:

  • a residential student or staff member at Trinity College
  • a member of the Society of Jesus (Province of Australia)
  • licensed clergy or a lay minister through Province of Victoria of the Anglican Church of Australia
  • as an ordained (including retired) minister or lay pastor or lay preacher or specially nominated office or individual through the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting Church in Australia
  • a candidate for lay or ordained ministry of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting Church in Australia
  • a Clinical Pastoral Education student at Pilgrim Theological College through the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, Uniting Church in Australia

University membership

Membership of the Dalton McCaughey Library is free if you are currently:

  • employed, enrolled or approved for research at Pilgrim Theological College or Trinity College Theological School by the University of Divinity.
  • University of Divinity members actively employed, enrolled or approved for research at other colleges may borrow available print items, and access electronic resources while on-site.

University of Divinity

Lifetime membership for alumni

Alumni of Pilgrim Theological College or Trinity College Theological School may purchase a lifetime membership for a one-time fee of $95. Due to licensing restrictions, membership is not available for purchase while holding an active University of Divinity account.

University of Melbourne

The Dalton McCaughey Library has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the University of Melbourne through the University of Divinity. University of Melbourne students and staff must provide a current UniMelb ID when borrowing items. University of Melbourne reciprocal membership includes the following privileges and responsibilities:

  • Up to 10 books can be borrowed at the same time
  • A 28 day initial loan on all eligible items
  • No renewals, though items can usually be returned and checked-out consecutively.
