Why can’t I access some online resources?
Licensing restrictions may limit your access to certain collections based on your account type and how you qualified for an account. While at the library—connected through the Dalton McCaughey Library WiFi network or using one of its public computers—anyone can access online collections from both the Dalton McCaughey Library and the University of Divinity.
University of Divinity online resources
If you are not actively enrolled, employed, or approved for research by the University of Divinity, you cannot access University of Divinity resources remotely. To access these items, you must be connected to the Library’s WiFi network or using one of its public computers.
Dalton McCaughey Library online resources
You will not be able to access Dalton McCaughey Library resources remotely if:
- You are using a University of Divinity account while actively enrolled, employed, or approved for research by the University of Divinity but not through Pilgrim Theological College or Trinity College Theological School
- You are using a Dalton McCaughey Library account through a reciprocal arrangement with another university
To access these items, you must be connected to the Library’s WiFi network or using one of its public computers.
Using a VPN at the Library
If you are using a device connected to the Dalton McCaughey Library WiFi network while using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), your access may be limited. A VPN routes your connection through an external server, so your device may appear to be connecting remotely even when it’s not. While VPNs are usually optional, some browsers, security software, or institution-managed devices may enable one automatically. To restore access, use the public library computers or turn off your VPN while connected to the Library WiFi network.
